Fatigue Awareness Training
Fatigue is an important OH&S issue that requires attention and is a particular issue employees required to work long, extended or irregular hours. Fatigued employees become stressed, less vigilant and increase the risk of workplace accidents. Fatigue awareness training educates people on ‘best practice’ techniques to manage and mitigate fatigue and its related risks.

• The types, causes, stages and effects of fatigue

• The increased risk of accident, injury and illness, associated with fatigue
• The associated medical conditions and lifestyle related disease, associated with fatigue, sleep deprivation and shift-work
• Strategies to optimise sleep quality
• How to implement strategies to sustain energy levels through nutrition, physical activity and hydration

Competency Based Training
Do you work in the transport industry?
If you or your employer are operating under a Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) or Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) scheme you will be required to complete the Nationally Accredited competency based training.
If you are working under the ‘Standard Hours’ scheme, this training will provide valuable information to keep you safe and alert on the roads. Competence in Fatigue Management may also provide additional future employment opportunities for drivers and schedulers.
TLIF1007C (F10) – Apply Fatigue Management Strategies
For Drivers
Prerequisite for TLIF6307A)
Description:
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to apply fatigue management strategies, including identifying and acting upon signs of fatigue and implementing appropriate strategies to minimise fatigue during work activities.

• Potential causes of fatigue
• How to recognise and respond to fatigue
• To plan and assess routes and schedules
• Lifestyle choices to effectively manage fatigue
• Appropriate counter measures to combat fatigue

TLIF6307A (F63)- Administer the Implementation of Fatigue Management Strategies
For schedulers and managers
(Participants must have completed TLIF1007C)
Description:
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to administer the implementation of fatigue management strategies, including monitoring the implementation of fatigue management strategies, recognising breaches of fatigue management policies, procedures and regulations. It also includes developing and assessing staff competence in fatigue management; providing feedback to staff on any shortcomings in their fatigue management skills and knowledge; and reporting to management on the implementation of fatigue management policy.
Duration:
•Full Day
You will Learn:
•How to review scheduled verses actual hours of work
•How to monitor activities of employees, sub contractors and suppliers in accordance to fatigue management plans
•To provide feedback on any identified shortcomings in implemented fatigue management strategies
•To identify breaches of fatigue management policies, procedures and regulations
•To include fatigue in accident/injury investigation
•Periodic audit systems to monitor fatigue management procedures
